Patchwork Crazy Quilt Nativity Christmas Stockings

Raylene

I recently made some cute Christmas stockings.  I made 2 sets, but this one was the one I had more fun with.  These are 4 matching Crazy-Quilt style patchwork Christmas stockings with a Nativity theme.

First, a picture of the finished products:

And a detail of one of the stockings:

Fun and festive, with a Nativity theme, these stockings will brighten any mantle! Each one is a bit different! Medium-sized stockings, 12 inches top to heel, 14 inches top to toe, 6 inch top opening, 9.5 inches at widest part of toe.

Front of the stockings is quilted (quilt-as-you-go) and the back is a single layer (not quilted) of coordinating fabric. Top edge and hanging tab are finished with deep red bias tape, matching the details in the fabrics.

Inspiration / Story behind this Project:

I love these fabrics, and the very cute Nativity figures depicted in the series. My great-grandmother taught me this method of quilting – using scraps, sewn onto a foundation (another layer of fabric) to create the Crazy Quilt look.  For this project I added the “quilt as you go” technique to reduce bulk and construction time.
